Some streaming services use Digital Rights Management, or DRM, to protect movies, TV shows, live events, and other licensed content.
WebCatalog does not currently support DRM-protected video playback. As a result, videos from services that require technologies such as Widevine, FairPlay, or PlayReady may fail to load, display a playback error, show a black screen, or remain stuck on the loading screen.
This is not usually caused by your WebCatalog account, internet connection, or subscription to the streaming service. The content provider requires a DRM component that is not available in WebCatalog.
What can I do?
Open the streaming service in one of its officially supported environments, such as:
- Its official desktop or mobile app
- Another browser listed by the streaming provider
You can continue using WebCatalog for non-DRM pages and other features of the service, but protected video content may need to be played outside WebCatalog.
How do I know whether a video uses DRM?
The content is likely DRM-protected when:
- The service works in a regular browser but not in WebCatalog.
- The website displays a DRM, protected-content, licensing, or unsupported-browser error.
- Menus and account pages work, but movies or live streams do not play.
- Trailers or free clips play, while premium content does not.
- The player shows a black screen even though audio or page controls are visible.
DRM support cannot normally be enabled through WebCatalog settings or by reinstalling the app.
