Singlebox vs. Rambox

Rambox and Singlebox both bring your work apps and accounts into one desktop window. Rambox leans into configuration, with nested workspaces, AI panels, and power-user controls.

Singlebox keeps setup simple: add your apps, sign in to every account, and get to work. The extra controls are there when you want them, and out of the way when you don't.

What is Singlebox?

Singlebox is a dedicated desktop app for your messaging, email, and work apps, on Mac and Windows. Every app or account is its own profile with an isolated session, so all your inboxes and chats stay signed in side by side, each with its own unread badge. Links to other sites open in your regular browser.

What is Rambox?

Rambox is a desktop workspace for apps and accounts. It organizes apps into workspaces, which can be nested and given working hours, and adds tile view, an AI side panel, unified search, and a command launcher. Many of its advanced controls are part of Rambox Pro. This comparison is based on Rambox 3.

1. Set up in minutes

Rambox rewards people who enjoy designing their workspace. Singlebox takes the opposite approach: there are no workspaces to plan. Pick apps from the catalog or add any website, sign in, and you're done. Folders keep a long list tidy, and each app can have its own tabs and tab groups.

2. Every account side by side

In Singlebox, each app or account is its own profile with an isolated session. Add a second inbox or a client's chat workspace and it sits next to the first, signed in, with its own unread badge.

Rambox supports multiple accounts of the same app too, but its multi-login and session management features are part of Rambox Pro, and the free plan allows two instances of each app.

3. Privacy built in

Singlebox blocks ads and trackers out of the box, using uBlock Origin and EasyList filter lists, and an app lock with a password, or Touch ID on Mac, keeps your apps private when you step away. In Rambox, ad blocking comes through the uBlock extension on Rambox Pro.

4. Simple to start, room to grow

When you want more control, Singlebox has it: a command palette, link rules that send links to the right profile, custom CSS and JavaScript, and per-app proxies. They're there when you need them, without getting in the way when you don't.

Moving from Rambox

  1. Download Singlebox and sign in.
  2. Add your apps from the catalog, or paste any website's address.
  3. Sign in to each account. Every account gets its own profile, and you can keep using Rambox until you're ready.

Which one should you choose?

Rambox is still a good fit if you:

  • Want workspaces, including nested workspaces and working hours, to separate clients or parts of your life
  • Need a custom user agent or a mobile view for specific apps
  • Want an AI side panel and unified search built into the app
  • Manage a team and want preconfigured workspaces or SAML and Active Directory sign-in

Singlebox is the better fit if you:

  • Want your messaging, email, and work apps in one window with as little setup as possible
  • Want every account signed in, side by side
  • Want ad blocking and app lock built in
  • Would rather spend your time in your apps than configuring the app that holds them
