You can send web pages and links directly to Switchbar using the browser extension or a bookmarklet. This makes it easy to move pages between browsers or open links in a different browser profile.
Before getting started, make sure Switchbar is installed on your Mac or Windows computer.
Install the browser extension
The Switchbar browser extension works with Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and most other Chromium-based browsers, including Opera, Brave, and Vivaldi.
- Visit Open with Switchbar on the Chrome Web Store.
- Click Add to Chrome (or the equivalent button in your browser).
- Confirm the installation.
Once installed, you can pin the extension to your browser's toolbar for easy access.
Send pages and links to Switchbar
There are two ways to use the extension:
- Send the current page: Click the Switchbar icon in your browser's toolbar to open the current page with Switchbar.
- Send a specific link: Right-click any link on a web page and select Open with Switchbar.
Switchbar lets you choose which browser, browser profile, or app should open the link. You can also configure rules to route links automatically.
Use the bookmarklet
If your browser doesn't support the extension, you can use the Switchbar bookmarklet instead. A bookmarklet is a small bookmark that performs an action when clicked.
To set it up:
- Make sure your browser's bookmarks bar is visible.
- Drag the Send to Switchbar button below to your bookmarks bar.
- Open any web page and click the bookmarklet to send the current page to Switchbar.
The bookmarklet doesn't require a browser extension, but the Switchbar desktop app must be installed on your computer.
