Whisper Web is a browser-based audio and video transcription tool that uses Whisper speech recognition to convert recordings into editable text, timestamps, and subtitles. Audio and video can be imported from local files, direct media links, or a microphone recording, with support for common formats including MP3, MP4, M4A, WAV, OGG, OPUS, WebM, AAC, and FLAC.

Transcription is processed locally on the device, so selected media files are not uploaded to Whisper Web servers. Users can choose the audio and output languages, select WebGPU or WebAssembly processing, edit the generated transcript, and export results as TXT, JSON, SRT, or VTT files. The standard transcription tool supports files up to 300 MB and 20 minutes, while a separate large-file workflow supports recordings up to 1 GB and one hour.

Whisper Web also includes browser-based MP4-to-MP3 conversion for extracting audio from compatible video files. It supports transcription in 99 languages and can be used for meeting recordings, voice memos, interviews, podcasts, captions, subtitles, and other short audio or video content.
