It is a tool designed to let users explore the popular typefaces installed on their computer. By clicking the black bar at the top of the screen and typing the name of a desired font, that font becomes the main display typeface and is remembered for future visits.
The tool works by creating hidden elements and measuring them before and after changing their font family to analyze font behavior and characteristics. Interestingly, this approach isn’t entirely new — it builds on existing ideas in how browsers handle and render typefaces.
